Airplane Flight

Somewhere as I write, a plane’s acceleration Against the onrush of wind, gaining speed Defying gravity’s norms, lifting, struggling, While a hundred people or more prepare Feigning relaxation for the journey ahead, A plethora of emotions, some feeling dread As the silver tube pierces cold, stagnant air Attendants, beverages and snacks juggling, Attempt to meet weary passengers’ need Each one eagerly anticipating a destination.

So very much in between the lines here, Milt. I like the understated tone. Cooly penned. ~ Gershon

I agree, gw. There are several poems suggested in this poem. I was on a transportation kick, I think.

Hmmm...it's my own invention, which I discovered was apparent in a number of my poems. The poem follows a rhyme pattern about half-way through, then rhymes back the other way. Look at the poem carefully, and you'll see it. "ahead" and "dread" are the midpoint, then "air" rhymes with "prepare." Etc.
