Against the Tide
wouldn’t life be a thing so sublime
if we could only turn back time
somehow preventing sudden change
from familiar things to something strange
hoping every day is going to be
exactly planned down to the tee
most desperately despising the chance
of any sudden variance
wouldn’t this world be a place so fine
if we could reverse the hands of time
will there still be any sorrow
when we can say, “there’s no tomorrow?”
or does that in some way decree
against the tide of destiny
