I watch as a trickle of teardrops fall, where innocent children were shot; watering the flowers that so many grieving parents left on the school grounds; marking where their child died. I can hear the cries of stricken mothers weeping for their murdered child; overwhelmed by grief, and numb to any other pain. I can feel the palpable sadness that saturates the air. And it hurts just to take a breath. I can sense the shock and disbelief that has befallen this community; shaking the foundations of their faith. I know nothing of what they feel; I pray no one else will ever suffer such unimaginable pain. Although in my heart I fear that this will, without a doubt, happen again and again.

Such a heart wrenching poem ! With much empathy, you have looked upon the tragedy. Such gruesome acts are unfortunately repeated time and again. Congratulations on your top most trophy win in the contest, dear poet friend, Emile

Emile, this is poetry of the highest magnitude, for it grieves with those who grieve and reminds them they are not alone. I join you in shedding a tear to water the flowers commemorating the tragic loss of the innocents. Congrats on your top placement, my friend ~ John
