Act of Cruelty

Act of cruelty

I believe that an act of cruelty
Is to take away child’s security
So let it be said
When two people wed
Make sure it’s a certain surety.

Short but sweet, Vera. Yes, a child should always feel secure in their home. Very nice, my friend.... Robert.

I grew up with one parent, so I can truly appreciate this poem. It is so cruel how a person can just abandon their own child. I could not imagine ever doing that.... This is a great write, Vera. I love the rhyme and the smooth word flow. Very nicely done!

Oh Kelly how sad you make me feel, it must have been hard growing up with only one parent, but I am sure you have grown up a better person for it, no I could never imagine me bringing my children up on my own let alone being cruel, my daughter is lucky bringing up her son on her own, but she has Peter and I to help as she lives with us......take care...Vera...

Wow, didn't even realize it was a limerick until I read Micheal's comment below. A serious limerick. Why not. When you make such a poignant point about a subject that get's over looked. The innocent seem to be the one's who always pay. Good Job and good day. :)

Thank you much Robert for commenting on my limerick, I am so sorry Michael's comment came out on yours, these computers really baffle me, you seem to press one thing and something else comes out, anyway at least you get my message, take care.................Vera............

Hi Michael, that limerick came to me after watching a TV program, in fact I didn't even know it was a limerick until Peter told me, sometimes I get little verses going through my head and I have to grab a pen and write it down before I forget it, no I have never done any writing, even though I loved poetry at school and that was a damn long time ago, thank you so much for writing Michael, take care........Vera...

Well said, Vera. My own parents divorced. So I know first hand the insecurity you speak about. And they probably should never have been married in the first place because they argued a lot. But they did. And here I am. Insecurity and all. Lovely poem. Peace...Sam

So sad Sam, but this seems to be the way of the world these days, both Peter and I had the security of both parents, I suppose we are the lucky ones, so I expect my children to have the security, actually these words just popped out of my head after watching a TV show, so that really inspired me, thank you so much for reading it.......Vera................
