Absinthe In Autumn
Fanciful follies flicker and soar
Tickle the timbers of the stage floor
Inventing intents to invite their stare
Kicking the keys until stripped bare
Roaring rafters rattle and roar
Teasing temptresses show them more
Pleasure pompous pigs for a thrill
Selling their souls to sate her bill
Bustles and brassiers fall to ground
Plastered punters spend their pound
Dancing dollies dare to enthral
Absinthe in autumn, the siren's call
Brittle blue skies breakthrough the night
Musing the mornings stark new light
Daybreak demeans their defiant descent
Echoes of eager eyes twisted in torment
