Abandoned Garden

I walked across the sparkling morning dew. A path where once uncommon beauty grew. A bench we shared, woeful, lone, and broken, echoes a promise that we had spoken. Our world the moment and so full of love. Hope flowed freely through soft currents above. Your gentle hand entwined within my own, A deeper love no one has ever known. Romantic dreams still swirl across the air with each heartbeat I feel a dull despair. The mist now turns to a luminous fog, a solo love song from a crooning frog. You have gone and now so has this garden abandoned to winds that grant no pardon. I sit among the dried and withered weeds and ask the Lord, my early death He speeds. To seek her beauty through these moonlit eyes my anguished heart wistfully yearns and cries. Speed me to her long awaited embrace and hasten me from this pitiful place.

Sad emotions are so prevalent in your poem. Loved your metaphoric use of a garden. Great poem. Blessings

In the depths of this sorrowful verse, a longing and ache manifest with poignant intensity. Once entwined, your presence transformed the surroundings into a tapestry of abundant beauty and vibrant life. Alas, the garden you nurtured now lies barren and desolate, its once thriving flora reduced to a wilted and forsaken state.

I love the overarching 'Garden' metaphor. Your words of longing and abandonment were powerful..'I sit among the dry and withered weeds' was one of my favorite lines. Outstanding creation, Linda. Enjoy your evening, Sara

A very soulful poem of longing and pain. When the two of you were together, everything was lush and beautiful. Now the garden looks deserted and withered. May the sweet memories of a time you both lived together drown all your sad thoughts. Beautifully penned, dear Linda.

awww so sad. I used to have a beautiful garden, but apartment living is not quite the place to green thumb anything except indoor plants. Your lovely lines are melancholy. I miss digging in the soil.

Hi Lin. I always found digging to be therapeutic...deep, dark, earth smells are calming for me. :) Sadly you are correct about apartment gardens. A few are lucky enough to have large patios or balconies that will accommodate a few tomatoes, peppers, or squash - certainly herbs. I really appreciate your visits and comments Lin. :)

May the memory of that exquisite garden remain etched in the depths of your soul, even as life's relentless storms attempt to ravage its once pristine beauty.

I have beautiful gardens dear Vie. My heart carries the beauty. This, as so many of my poems, is pure fiction. My eyes, however, cry for the needful and sorrowful I have met and cared for. Thank you for your kind visit and soothing words. :)
