Analysis

This poem is a message for all men who base their love interest only on physical appearances rather than their inner beauty that delves within their souls. The first strophe describes a beautiful and charming woman from a man’s first impression. If a woman is beautiful from the outside, then a man would automatically fall in love without getting to know her in person. This poem is not addressed for all men but for those who only judge by first impression and physical appearance. The second strophe reveals the true identity of the same woman who appeared lovely at first sight. She turns out to be a rude foul-mouthed woman who has no common sense and no respect for the lover. This shows that beauty does not come from outside the person but from the inside.

Limpid lake blue eyes of lapis lazuli Light like luminous lifeless lucent moons Those lovely lively lustrous luscious lips Taste like leathery little lingonberries Yet, those loathsome lethal lavender pink lips Lacked my long-lasting ladylike interest While that ludicrous lawless lackluster brain Literalized a lexicon of lazy lowlives
