A Water Lily In My Pond

Amid globular, floating serrated leaves Dwells a dreamy lily in milk white frock She is the new occupant of my small pond Fructified by swimming fish and croaking frog Like a nymph over the water’s still surface She smiles and sways in unusual grace, With the regal flourish of a beaming bride! A sight, that’ll lit a smile on many a face! In the circular pond dappled with green algae As the early beams of sunlight come to cajole She stands proud, lifting her fair face to the sun Awakening ripples of joy in my sullen soul!

That water lily sure is doing an awesome job, if she can awaken joy in you 'sullen soul!' Funny, but I never thought of you as having one of those kind of souls. ~ Mr. Morbid

Glad you see me as one not with a sullen soul. Mostly I am happy. But life is not always favorable. There are ups and downs. Thank you Gershon for your nice observation.

Valsa, your writing is as gorgeous as your lovely picture. Your utterances attempt to address the action sequences you portrayed so wonderfully.

Hi Lasaad.... How should I thank you for all the beautiful comments you have made on my poems? Much gratitude dear friend !

A water Lily, or the proverbial, lotus does inspire poetry. Very often their beauty & "fructified" gifts to EYES defy the algae & slime, or plain old mud

Yes, poets are inspired by the sight of water lilies and lotuses. Though they originate from mud or slush, they come out regal delighting the eyes ! Thank you Anil.
