A Valentine Gift For Me
Just before the break of day
my Dearest Darling went away,
but when she left, she left behind
a special gift for me to find.
The first thing that I do each morn,
before the DART train blows his horn,
a cup of coffee starts my day
to get me on my merry way.
And there inside my coffee mug
a note to me tucked nice and snug.
The note was from my dearest bride;
she knew I’d find it there inside.
The note to me, it read like this,
“Wish I was there to give a kiss
and hug to start your day off right,
but I’ll return to you tonight.
We’ll sit beside the burning fire
fulfilling all our love’s desire,
and knowing that our stars align;
you’ll always be my Valentine.”
