A True Friend

She was a friend who could keep a confidence, which is rare. Born as wise soul of a sage with a friendly open honest air. I did not know her well when she volunteered to help me out. A dire situation that was solved with her joyful “I will” shout. We have grown up together, and been tight for over twenty years. We know almost everything about each other without any kind of fears. People know better that we are closer than sisters or cousins. We chose each other for reasons that I could name by the dozens. She tells me her stories, and I laugh until I cry, for sure. Some I have already heard, but still I laugh because it is her. We have fun playing, eating, praying, and meeting together. We have met in all kinds of ridiculously hot and cold weather. We are besties, but we never say it aloud for sisters we have. We know it would hurt them, so we keep it to ourselves as their salve. But we are joined as close as two friends probably ever can be. Our bond tight and honorable. We love each other’s friendship you see. Written 10-25-20 Contest: From the Heart Sponsor: Regina McIntosh
