Shakespeare, your words are interlaced with mine With brilliant words of wit I choose from verse, Yet I could never write near as divine. Many have tried and failed... a poet’s curse. You’ve set the bar beyond clouds in the skies. Your clever words rain down as crystal tears. My breath released in awe inspired sighs, I marvel their relevance all these years. I know your image like I know my own, Your high forehead, your dashing bearded face. How fond of your written verse I have grown, Your clever lines share elegance and grace. You will forever have my loyalty, As you inspire all my poetry! © Nov. 3, 2016

This is exquisite, Connie! The Bard was my gateway to sonnet enjoyment back in college, and I have only grown in my love for the form, though whatever my own talent at creating them, it will always pale when compared to him. He has indeed "set the bar beyond clouds in the skies." With you, I marvel at his relevance 400 years later. Beautifully crafted tribute, Connie, an absolute FAV for me, and I look forward to enjoying this again and again. Hugs ~ John

Great tribute, Connie. I think he was a mage. Anyone who came in contact with his poetry became a poet too)

Connie, a beautifully written sonnet in honor of Shakespeare. I've just written my first sonnet so I have a new found admiration for the poetic genius he possessed. Your write is a wonderfully rhymed tribute to the great poet! Excellent and enjoyed!

You couldn't have said this any better. Every time I spend time reading Shakespeare's sonnets (which I LOVE to do) I absolutely refuse to write any of my own for as long as it takes me to forget how perfect his are. Excellent sonnet, Connie!

Hi Connie, very nice, but do you know that he made a gigantic error on Hamlet, Act III, scene 1. Instead of " To be, or not to be--that is the question", it should have been; To be or to become, death is question! Think about it. I think it got lost in translation.......

Hi Connie: A beautiful poetic tribute to one of the greatest poets and playwrights. I'm going to email you one of his poems but first please read my poem "All the world's a stage" based on "As you like it."

As a director and much earlier on as an actor I have been involved in so many of his plays. I think in one way or another all his plays. I certainly have read them all. His sonnets were often used in acting exercises where we would deliver them like monologues. I love Shakespeare. You did him proud. A stunning tribute.

Honey, I somehow missed this gem. Shakespeare himself would have loved it, as do I. We share 4th place and there are few I'd rather be grouped with! I'm honored and happy for us both. All the best, all the time ... CayCay

Shakespeare influences my writings in a way too esp his thy thee archaic language which I can't help loving. I like how u say 'dashing bearded face' and I like the beard , very poetic looks yeahh. So thumbs up for this rhyming tribute to the bard. Nice to read from u again

A worthy tribute to a great, Connie. I often say a few words when I pause by his grave on occasional visits to Stratford-upon-Avon. A fine Sonnet. Viv x
