Notes About The Poem

A Tiny Messenger

I saw a little Cardinal
 setting in a tree.
I said to that little red bird
"Why have you come to me?"
 He flew a little closer
and let out a great big "chirp"!
I'm a messenger sent from heaven
and from those who have passed on.
I hope this brings you blessings
and great peace in your heart
 because,God heard your grieving prayer
and your loved one is at rest.
 At that very moment
 my heart was at peace.
Because, God sent this little bird
 in my time of need.
Now if you see a Cardinal
 listen closely to his song.
It might be the answer to your prayer
 sent by the Lord above.

Cardinals are beautiful birds. Its amazing how nature can do exactly what you said in that they can remind us of God Himself, and lift the spirits. Good job.

Beautiful. The MIND/thoughts take us toward peace, or all the humans' psychological maladies. Romans 12, 1-2 is big on "renewing" our minds. Since childhood, animals spoke to us, and their names were among our earliest words, even "bow-wow." shalom, shalom, Thanx

Oh I do love birds and Cardinals are especially pretty. Love this picture and there is an old saying that when a cardinal visits you it's a message that someone you miss who has passed on is fine and watching you. Good stuff. God Bless, JB

Thank you, for your kind words. I've heard that old saying as well. I think that's why I wrote this poem for my Daughter-in-law. So she may find some comfort when she sees a Cardinal. Many Blessings! Debbie

Gosh. This is so sweet, and so insightful at the same time. I believe that everything, everyone, and every creature that comes our way is a messenger from the Almighty. Maybe that sounds nuts, but if every word of the Bible comes from Him, and He created everything for Man's benefit --- why not?! ~ Faithful, and perhaps a bit Foolish, gw

Hi! Gershon, I agree with you. I believe God uses anything and everything to accomplish His purpose. There is an old folklore saying that "When a cardinal appears in your yard, it's a visitor from heaven". "With God all thing are possible". Thank You, G~ Your words have been a Blessing -Debbie
