A THOUSAND THINGS I MISS

On this cold December eve It’s just me and the moon Thinking ‘bout that fateful night You came to hear me croon A shooting star lit up the sky But I saw brighter in your eyes Love at first sight, no need to try Girl, I fell… and I can't lie Tonight, I strum this old guitar While my heart bleeds into the strings Snowflakes dance like whispered ghosts Echoes of our wedding rings We had a love most never know From first hello to the very end But now I’m left with just this ache… And a thousand things I miss This park bench, cold and bare Once held the fire of our first kiss The way you smiled, the way you laughed Oh God, it’s all I reminisce The moon still shines where secrets lay Between the chords and words I play Romance was effortless with you But silence speaks too loud today Tonight, I strum this old guitar I’d trade the world for one more kiss A broken heart sings soft and low Of a thousand things I miss Like your hand in mine at midnight walks Your sleepy voice, our late-night talks Your perfume on that winter coat The way you cried at every note I feel you in the wind that blows But you’re not here—and heaven knows… So I strum this old guitar again In the key of could’ve been Snow falls like it’s grieving too For what we were, and what won’t mend Forever love, how’d you disappear? I still reach out, but you’re not near Just a song, a breath, a haunting kiss... And a thousand things I miss A thousand things… I miss Oh, a thousand things… like this
