A Surreal Dream

The moon and stars are lost to the darkness
behind prodigious banks of purple clouds.
A lightning fork, matching Neptune's trident,
clears the busy streets, dispersing the crowds.
Brisk breezes tussle the tops of the trees,
branches bending between lightning flashes.
And a downpour of disjointed droplets
form sticky drops that cling to eyelashes.
Shadows merge within liquid ebony
until Thor's hammer forges sparks anew.
Where lightning's jagged eye illuminates
the dark, its fiery gaze burns its way through.
And with Natures magical artistry,
thunderstorms depict a surreal dream.
Where lightning's hypnotic flashes ignite
charcoal clouds, and the wind's wailing banshees scream.
