A Stranger

There are moments in life Etched in heart and mind A simple word or gesture Poignant , significant A moment defined He told me her life was ending There was no-one by my side Overcome with devastation Refuge taken in the hospital garden to cry Seated in a secluded spot My tears openly flowed No-one to see me No-one would know Through my tears I looked up When a stranger said “Hey” “Are you ok love” “Can I help in any way”? Genuine concern in his voice Kindness in his eyes Just for that moment Warm comfort hugged my life He will never know The power of his words His simple act of kindness will be Forever remembered, forever heard
