I am lying on my back, cradling my arm Sun is shining here, making me warm Above my head my little friend is building A new home. Last night she had a killing Spree, enjoying a meal of annoying flies If they'd have voices I could hear their cries. While you across the big pond are asleep Tossing and turning, snoring, light or deep My spider brings entertainment here in bed No, I won't butcher her to death My friends in Europe, come sit here and share Sunlight, friendship, in my warm web where I am the spider, but you're no prey I have cookies, and tea, but first, let's say I bring my spider safely outside for you? Will that do? *** March 3, 2017 © Darren White

Wonderful poem, and so nice to have a spider cast in a positive light. Amazing creatures to stop and watch.

Yes, it's a favourite pastime of mine, especially in autumn. They are fascinating creatures :)

Wish the timing were no so far apart! I missed the spider, good company and treats! Maybe have to look for a midnight treat of milk and cookies ;) This is a fun one :)

So many don't like spiders, but in actual fact they are wonderful :) Thanks Kim!

This was cute and funny Darren. And all of this happened while I was asleep? :) I will not harm a spider I see in the house and if it is all possible, I will catch it and set it free outside. Your poem was fun and I can see how this would come about. Inspiration for poetry is everywhere.

Haha, it sure does. Being bedridden a lot gives you the funniest inspiration ever. I also happen to like spiders, much to the dismay of many of my friends!
