A Special Smile

A SPECIAL SMILE Annie had a special smile--one you knew was sincere; It radiated from her face wherever she appeared. She never seemed to let the storms of life show on her face, Instead, the glow of happiness would always be in place. At home, at school, where’er she went, that smile would go along; Yes, she was such a happy girl, that smile was her song. As she would slowly walk the aisle in church to take her seat, That special smile upon her face would every person meet. I’ve seen a lot of happy folks who often smiled at me, But Annie’s was a special smile that I would often see. You couldn’t help but fall in love with such a fragile frame; That smile and glow upon her face would always be the same. The angels and the saints above must have seen that smile, too, And couldn’t wait until the day she’d greet them in the blue. That day came suddenly for us, and now we’ll miss her so-- That smile upon her lovely face, that joy she always showed. But we know that a special smile was waiting for her there As Jesus looked upon her face and welcomed her up there. To her, that was a special smile, now home with Him to stay, And now as we say our good-byes to her upon this day, I think if she could talk to us, she’s make this simple plea: “Go out and spread a special smile to everyone you see!” Written in memory of Annie Guccione
