A Silent Prayer

Joanna Davis Politician pity me My pent-view tenement sanctuary These panoramic views you see Only serve to tether me, The putrid stair a bloody And decaying maze Of putrid souls In a morphine daze. Please doctor, in my Minute’s appointment Don’t dismiss my pain with The usual ointment The scars that you Refuse to see, Have made me doubt My sanity. And preacher, when you gave Your blessing Did you ever wonder why I was missing? Condemning my absence as a lack of faith, My soul to the suffering Of purgatory’s state.
