A Second Coming
even so I am still a child
as time's tide ripples over me
the ageing shadows so reviled
a hinderence to a spirit carefree
eons of knowledge imbue learning
increasing contemplation of life's fears
laugh and cry with abandon, still a yearning
but such freedom eroded by the years
I remember when, I was a sound of tomorrow
in the schoolyard, as we run and play
that being passes, without any sorrow
to become, the voice of yesterday
who of us wanted, for such as this
yet the winds must whisper it seems
and now as I plant a father's kiss
time passes faster than my dreams
and so I strive to avoid capture
in my minds cavern is a place to hide
immersed in innocence's rapture
who needs meaning on my life's ride
two billion seconds have now passed
the vessel is tired, but spirit high
memory of loving moments amassed
I am ready, for when it's my turn to fly
but wait, this is no swansong
there is much more yet to transpire
I look around at where I belong
and see I am still full of desire
come on seconds, come to me
come on and fulfil my destiny
