Second Chance

Second chance tickets,
Come! 
Don’t miss out, 
Your whole life,
Mistakes,
Gone!
Change your yesterdays,
Start anew today!
With time travel invention,
We have looked,
You definitely need to come,
Your life was terrible.
I started to believe it,
Step on board
Don't miss the portal
People were getting on,
I couldn’t believe it,
All wanting a new life.
Was it what I wanted.
Does my life reckon 
For a second chance,
I stood there on my own,
Thinking
I’m left!
Are you coming?
No, I said,
I will forgive myself,
Change my mistakes,
I have grown,
A better person for it,
If I go back,
I will keep making the same mistakes!
They all disappeared!
Never again to be seen,
I’m glad I stayed,
I have learned,
Only through love,
I reckon for a second chance.

Great poem, Wendy; and I agree, we learn from our mistakes. At least, the wise do. And I like (mostly) who I am now. Though, could I go back, I would change a lot. Especially, I would try to make amends to those I have hurt. As always, your writing is important, and it makes me think. Blessings my friend!

Hi Wendy, You make it sound so good. I'm so tempted to step through the portal. But can my mom and kids and my loved ones come too?Can I also keep the lessons that I've learned that made me into the woman I am today? On second thought as good as it sounds I think I'll pass. I'm sure many of us would love to be able to turn back time and erase the mistakes we have made but our life experiences shape who we are ... but my mum has a saying ... 'a man who never made a mistake never made anything'. Great take on the contest theme:-) good luck:-) hugs jan xx
