A Sandwich and a Kiss
He was elected sheriff that year
A young man but mature for his age
Five years old may not seem much these days
But back then he was crusty and sage
The job came with a stick horse, brand new -
A set of forty fives with new belt
And he was furnished three meals a day
With a western hat all shaped from felt
It took the better part of the day
To ride the limits of his county
And he had special chores to attend
Like lockin' up and settin' bounty
A set of outlaws rode into his town
Somewhere back around fifty and eight
And, oh, he was a sight to behold
As he dispatched them all to their fate
He rode back proudly through his wire gate
Greeted by his smiling little Sis
"I knew you'd get 'em, Roy, I just knew!
Your reward's a sandwich and a kiss !"
