A Dark Christmas Night

It had been yearly pleasant routine for me, I would visit on every Christmas my friend, and act as the old Santa Claus to cheerfully see his little daughter smile, my gift in her hand. She’d get up early in the morning of the day, find delighted her Santa Claus on her bed side. The gift she’d dotingly take from me away, embrace me with her tender arms flung wide. She’d decorate with care cute Christmas tree, sing the carol with her mother in joyful chorus, dancing around in white silk dress like a fairy. The enthralling scene we wanted to never pass. I had lost contact with the friend for some time, so, that Christmas went there to spring a surprise. I didn’t hear by the door the bell’s usual chime, the familiar little bed was empty at the sunrise. The angel had gone to sparkle in sky on astral flight, leaving us in the dark on the sad Christmas night. December 15, 2018 Contest : Christmas Poems Old Or New Sponsored by : Constance La France
