A Rose Before the Fall
A ROSE BEFORE THE FALL
With its velvety petals of a burgundy hueA warm inviting scent reminds me of you
Standing eager in its glory for the sun dayA gentle breeze gives it I said "Hello" sway
There was richness to it that is far beyondAn air of subtle mystery it forever donned
A rose of substance - it is beyond compareAs autumn befalls - it is still standing there
Not a rose to be plucked - its glory is for allWith its faded beauty a rose before the fall
