A Romantic Valentine

A ROMANTIC VALENTINE Heart shaped candies asking will you be mine Given to the one we call our valentine It's meant to be a love token For a relationship that won't be broken Bright red boxes of chocolate delights Arranged in stores are attractive sights Meant to lure the man of her dream Chocolates filled with cherries and cream Despite the fact they may increase weight None can resist the number they ate Later they may be heard to exclaim To eat so many, I must be insane Accompanied by a card with a romantic hint And not caring how much money was spent Cards and candy are simply a way Of wishing your lover a romantic day The idea itself is centuries old And budding relationships begin to unfold In every card given, the bottom line Is will you be my Valentine 25 January 2018 For contest sponsored by Emile Pinet

Sara, thank you for these kind remarks. I would like to place in the contest but this was a difficult form of poetry to deal with. It was actually a lot of fun trying to make it work though. I really appreciate your support and encouragement.
