A Ring of Stones
You sit majestically sometimes dark and brooding
other times flooded with light you seem to glow
towering high over all you survey standing sentry
you dominate the landscape for many miles.
Used for many rituals maybe also some bloodshed
for centuries druids, wickers and more worship
at your feet each with their own purpose and dreams
the mystery you hold still not fully understood
It is said you can be seen from far away in space
that with others you form a ring around the earth
to walk through you touching your stones
gave me such a thrill (not allowed any more)
They say the acid on our hands damages you
so now you are fenced off so none can approach
the seance of you calls to me as I pass you by
may you Stonehenge be part of our heritage for ever
