A Return To Yesterday

Some yesterdays flounder in the ocean
Of oblivion. They'll take a lifetime to count
Some yesterdays are too stressful and dolorous
To revisit; fraught with regrets and pain, bloated
With bombast and boredom
Some yesterdays; uneventful, inconsequential
In the final analysis. And I let most float away
Like an aimlessly lost feather in the breeze
But some yesterdays captivate me, like
A neophyte fledgling spreading it's wings to soar
Yesterday, as in last night, keeps lulling me back
With lecherous intensity, for you've seduced me
With soulful eyes that smolder with all-consuming fire
Your come-hither gaze challenged my inhibition
Hence I cry...I cry for a return to yesterday!
I surrender body and soul to father time's providence
To spirit me back to the everlasting moments we shared
Last night. 'Tis the stuff dreams are made of. I'd still
Go back if it means I'll never return. Those moments...
Couldn't be more magical!
