A Resolution

I hereby resolve to declutter.
I’ll slice through my closets like butter.
	What looks dated and torn
	Or what I haven’t worn
Will be bagged up and tossed to the gutter.

I say the same thing every year.
When I promise, I’m really sincere;
	But for true execution
	Of this resolution
 A fairy would have to appear.

And then, with a wave of her wand,
Old garments would up and respond.
	They would float out the door
	And I’d lock it before
With my newer things she could abscond.

A fairy’s unlikely to show,
So my closets will still overflow;
	But I’ve learned how to cope
	Though there’s always some hope
That I’ll give a few things the heave-ho!

Great limerick about a task that we all hate..I have gone through my clothing for the past two years at the change of seasons trying to eliminate clothing that I probably will never wear..I have thrown away and donated ususable items but I still have more than I'll wear..I'll look at something and say well if I lose a few pounds I could still wear that and I might need it..Ha! Ha!!..Sara Congrats on your win..

Very funny. Should've made that resolution myself :p. Congrats on the win! (Just typo'd "wit" instead of "win" and I think the statement would still have stood!)

Great quadruple helping of limerick poems that collectively convey what many of us should be doing at home. Congratulations on the first place win.

Great great limerick! :) Your choice of words is amazing! I have a bad track record with resolutions....perhaps humor is the best way to deal with it! Hugs!

I have written poems on this subject myself, GREAT one. For me, it got easier to throw things away when my size increased, Still I am hanging on to the 10's and 11's. Sometimes I can actually fit into some of them!!

Or possibly your wonderful spouse / Will buy you a much bigger house / Then you'd have plenty of space / For new clothes to showcase / But you would both be as poor as a mouse. I absolutely adore your poems. Keep them coming. You have a great muse. it even inspires me.

May you never have too many pens. For we love your poetic lens. And if fairy's can dance in your head. She has tip toed on what you have said. I hope that you reach all your dreams. And success is more than it seems.
