A Request Too Far

James and John of Jesus did request
to sit with him to right and to left,
     in his glory to share.
     “I must make you aware,
to be seated thus is at God's behest.” 

When the ten heard this they were much distressed.
So Jesus called them and to all addressed,
     “You surely must know,
     lords rank do bestow,
but for you to be great let the poor be your guest.”

Mark 10.35-45
