A Prisoner No More-An English Sonnet
Whispered sighs cause my lonesome soul to soar
Released, it is distressed by stormy seas
Tattooed lonely secrets my dead heart bore
Forlorn harbor has brought me to my knees
Distant window my weathered eyes have spied
Through clear glass your beauty is seen within
Raging sea surrounding me now has died
Can you embrace then cast away my sin?
Silhouette construes such lovely delight
Bares stark contrast to my worn quality
At last, freedom from grief within my sight
Through window pane I’ve seen equality
Once shut in fear, my eyes now open wide
You offer your hand and lead me inside
