A Prisoner No More-An English Sonnet

Whispered sighs cause my lonesome soul to soar Released, it is distressed by stormy seas Tattooed lonely secrets my dead heart bore Forlorn harbor has brought me to my knees Distant window my weathered eyes have spied Through clear glass your beauty is seen within Raging sea surrounding me now has died Can you embrace then cast away my sin? Silhouette construes such lovely delight Bares stark contrast to my worn quality At last, freedom from grief within my sight Through window pane I’ve seen equality Once shut in fear, my eyes now open wide You offer your hand and lead me inside
