A Poet Out of Hiding
I feel like a
Poet out of hiding,
Like Rip Van Winkle who felt
Disoriented and confused after
Sleeping for twenty years.
Day in and day out I stared
At a nearly blank sheet of paper,
A mountain of paper clutter was
Causing anxiety to overrun my mind,
Ideas would evade me and
I felt as if I were in a dream,
Reality was something I longed for.
Watching CNN proved to me I was
Living in a crazy mixed-up world,
None of this was helping my poetic mind,
I wasn't finding any inspiration that
Was good enough to put on paper.
With a strong faith in God
I started listening to my heart,
Now I'm learning to take life
One poem at a time.
