A Place No One Likes To Be

I know a place; no one likes to be there, yet nearly everyone I know has gone to sit with trepidation in a chair, and then reclined, each person sits and drools while helplessly they stare up at the face of someone who is cramming too big tools inside their mouth, which has too small a space - too little space to have to let inside large forceps or that vacuum that lets pass the grime collecting in mouths open wide! Perhaps some go just for the laughing gas! But go we must - and sit still for the drill, enough sometimes to make a grown man ill. Written June 17, 2016 for the If it hurts so bad, why do we do it? Poetry Contest of Silent One

Andrea, dear Andrea, only you could compose a Sonnet about the dreaded dentist chair. Now rinse, spit, floss, and I'll see you in six months.

It wouldn't be so bad so long as the dentist isn't Dr. Szell. Remember Marathon Man? Love, daver

Hi Andrea, i Loved the humour in this one but it had a great deal of truth. For some people, a trip to the dentist is pretty terrifying, even as adults. If they terrify you as children then it always sticks with you. Well, i see congratulations are in order Andrea. Congratulations on your placement. I am so afraid of dentists now that they usually have to wake me up when they are finished, those chairs, i do find them comfortable. A definite seven Andrea. Hugs....Mike. XX

It's an entertaining poem, Andrea, but not an entertaining place to be. I used to hate dentists; nowadays I don't mind them at all. When we're in pain we don't stop to argue about it!! [been in hospital with a gall stone a few days ago...the pain was so acute; now much better thanks to painkillers; ordeal not over yet.] // paul

I could have a down payment on a house for the cost of the dentists I have been to. Enjoyed, all can relate.

I'd gone to the dentist last week. They have a new chair that gives a massage when cleaning the teeth. I'm wondering how it would react if I'd needed a filling? Love this write, but no fan of the drill. Hugs, Mikki :)

well, except for that one dentist that gave me laughing gas. that was awesome, except he was expensive and now I can only afford the stupid dental college place.
