A Picture That Has Outlasted Time
We were two happy kids knowing no stride,
we had lots of secrets that were kept inside;
a childhood innocence that joy couldn't hide,
wild screams exchanged on the swing ride.
In the hot sun we were free with no mom to chide,
going everywhere, allowing true feelings to confide;
no words were meaningless, nothing was put aside,
beneath every dazzling cloud we seemed to glide.
A picture that has outlasted time is endless pride,
the youngest love ever felt by two can still abide;
free on that meadow, we were Bonnie and Clyde,
too bittersweet are those memories I carry inside.
