A PERFECT PLACE TO START

Is there anyone among us…no matter who we are… Who doesn’t enjoy a moonless night and a walk under the stars? Who doesn’t enjoy a summer rain…the flowers that bloom in Spring? Who doesn’t feel joy while flying a kite attached to the end of a string? Who hasn’t smiled while listening to the birds sing from the safety of their trees? Who hasn’t grinned watching those same trees dance to the melody of a summer breeze? Who hasn’t smiled when they see or hear an innocent baby laugh? Who’s never marveled at a dolphin…an elephant…or giraffe? Who doesn’t smile…stop…even dance a little…when they hear their favorite tune? Who hasn’t wished upon a shooting star…or tried to touch the moon? What I find so disheartening in this world…what if think is such a shame…. Is how we spend so much time on the things that make us different… while ignoring the things that make us all the same. Which makes me wonder: If we made more of an effort, as humans, to enjoy these little things…together… these things that brighten up all our days… If hate and prejudice and wars…would simply fade away. People say it can’t be done…that our world is too divided… too disconnected…too torn apart…. And again I wonder: Aren’t the birds, the stars and a baby’s laugh… a perfect place to start?
