A Paper Tree
Have you ever seen a paper tree?
You will love it, I guarantee
Skipping along inside a park
I saw a man with a bamboo bark
Flowers fluttering in the wind
I ran up to him and grinned
A burst of colour spinning around
Rustling paper making a sound
My eyes grew big and were fixed on two
The yellow sunflower shimmering in the sun
My heart now going with the pink one
Proud owner of pink flower, what fun
I noticed a black seed, a bead attached
Under soil I immediately dispatched
But I did not know then that beads don’t grow
I watered it every day, but a paper flower did not show
My mother now comforted me as she held my hand
And said flowers don’t grow in sand
I loved my pink flower, oh so bright
I looked at my mother and knew she was right.
