A New Nation

We lived in a house that had no wheels I guess that made us rich, Property lines defined by giant oaks and roads defined by the ditch. In the nearby forest we hunted and fished we kept to ourselves most days, we raised our kids, our dogs and cats and laid on the hills in suns' rays. Children climbed those giant oaks watching rabbits below eat grass. Learning lessons the world should know never attending one school or class. The ways of the farmer were passed, from generation to generation. Home-made really meant it then as we carved out a new nation. Our friends were the birds and buffalo our teachers were long-gone spirits. Ghosts of wolf and man alike close your eyes and you can feel it. Take a walk, anywhere, and close your eyes and mouth, hear, the world will talk to you, teach you go forth without judgement or fear.
