A New Day Comes

The sweetest ray of day creeps through the blind
to fill enduring dreams with hints of day
a tingle shimmers o'er my drowsy mind,
though in my cozy bed I long to stay.

The warble of the morning birds is faint
but calls me from the gentle realm of nod
wherein I dance with joy and no restraint
in fantasy until that quiet prod.

As dawn arrives to greet my sleepy eyes
I wake with lingered visions of my love
and keep them close, so comfort never flies
like wind or winging of a mourning dove.

A new day comes with promise, hope and light
I'm ready to embrace it, love in sight.

Enjoyed reading your sonnet..Good one that is descriptive and expressive..I am glad that I chose this one to read this morning...If for a contest, good luck..Yes, my work "Bill Of Goods" was to a certain extent metaphoric about something else..Sometimes life gives us something that is defective or is not what it seems and we have to learn from the experience..Good reading of my work to see through the veneer...Sara

Hey, Kris, did you know there was a contest on Good Morning? If it is not finished, I was thinking, this would make a perfect entry if you just adjusted it a little bit to include the phrase Good morning inside it!! and I think it needed to be in the title too. Anyway. something to think about (unless that contest closed already) You show excellent meter in your sonnets, dear. Luv, Andrea
