A Musing Plumber

I greeted the day, that seemed in a way, to be just a happy blank page, So not aware; that I'd better beware, sometimes our Intentions can't gauge, For circumstance comes into play I went to the sink; I just wanted a drink I found not my sought for refresher A sputtering spray soon tainted my day When I found there was no water pressure Feeling quite bleak as we started to seek And discovered wet spots on the floor A few scattered puddles, that left us befuddled Wet carpet we found, nothing more I sought and I puzzled He thought and surveyed Neither of us are a plumber by trade Finally, he found how those puddles were made The hot water line, which last night seemed quite fine Was leaking neath' concrete, the problem discrete And seeping through cracks in our living room floor The bright empty page of our day was no more I'd wanted to write in the new day dawned bright Gosh life can be such a bummer! I wanted a muse, but instead would peruse The telephone book for a plumber. Though we were a muddle, these were only small puddles. We tried hard to find a bright side We'd discovered leaks soon, so, that was a boon: At least we weren't washed in a tide Now needing solutions, and that without stall Friend gave me a number, she told me to call I called it, and they sent a man on his way He talked about costs; what insurance might pay A home project bereft of beauty or glamour To do this repair he will use a jack hammer The plumber said, "Call if my service you choose!" I asked for his name, To my shock? "It's Joe Muse." How I'd wanted to write in the new day dawned bright But a Muse HAS inspired this write Some One up there has a humorous flair Though my pens in a gripe, (this no hype!) A Muse came to fix our cracked pipe!

My Lord, a broken pipe, concrete, and a jack hammer, and you managed to get the whole story down without so much of a stammer, we shouldn't laugh, but, we did . . . ; )

Lol, Indiana, I'm glad it brought a few laughs. This experience has had an odd twist for certain. Of course, life always has some crazy twists and turns, this situation has definitely been...amusing. I must admit, I really like the old cliché' 'When life throws you lemons, make lemonade.' This is my lemonade ;) I hope your day is blessed and your week ahead filled with much goodness :) Thank you for your visit and uplifting comment <3 ~BJ

We're still trying to get it fixed, there are a lot of busy plumbers, and Mr Muse has, as often is the case with a muse, not been able to be reached! I called another plumbing company, he came out yesterday, you won't even believe it. His name is Joe Hughes....rymes with Muse! When he told us his name my husband and I looked at each other in shock, my husband started laughing. This is getting too strange! Well, hope we will have it done this week :)

Haha....Thanks for the laugh BJ...Sometimes such situations pop up in life...out of nowhere...Glad that the muse led you to write this beautiful entertaining poem...hugs...~ Ani

Thank you Anitha :) The Muse hasn't got back to us though, just like a muse sometimes. I finally called another plumber and he came out to give us an estimate, oh my gosh. I asked his name, it is Joe Hughes. This is getting a bit over the top with strange turnings and poetry!! My husband just started laughing when the second plumber told us his name, I hope he wasn't offended!

Well, the situation it not too much fun, but seriously! My husband said sometimes fact is stanger than fiction, and in this case, there is no doubt about that! Now that we have found the leak today through a sonar detection company, we will have to call a contractor to take care of some of this...and then the Muse will fix the cracked pipe. Oh man, I will try to retain some humor in this situation! But anyway, the poem was a fun write...just to let off a bit of steam, ya know? :) Thanks for your visit Andrea, I hope all is well with you! <3 ~BJ

Oh, this is so much fun to read, BJ -- though I don't mean to make light of the frustration felt. You have written a humorous masterpiece here. Bravo! ~ Gershon

Thank you Gershon, for your visit and your comment, I'm glad it's a fun read :) It was the strangest thing ever to have a plumber show up with the name of Muse, what are the chances of that happening?! You're right, it is a very frustrating situation, there is no doubt about that. We still have no hot water line, and we just had a sonar test done and located where the cracked pipe is...and it is a biggie. Well anyway, it made for an amusing situation and poem ;) ~BJ

You're right, isn't funny, like in hahaha (not totally anyway!), but it is such a very strange funny!! I am still amused by the whole thing! I'm like, hmmm, is this supposed to mean something...or just sort of a cosmic joke?! Lol! I had been working on a poem about a tree whose roots spread so deeply into an aquafer of love...and couldn't get the poem just right...and then this too?! Maybe our tree did cause this mishap...its roots into the pipes? Its worth looking into come to think of it! Just strange coincidences! Oh well, life happens, I'll try to flow with it! Happy Friday to you too Mike :)

My goodness what a day. I have had the same issue before when in my 30's, but at the time we had a crawl space. My husband and brother in-law got it fixed. It is ashamed that builders build home on a cement slab. Take care and safe hope it doesn't cost you a lot and easy to fix.

Yes, quite a day! We still don't have this thing figured out, jack hammer the inside of my house?? Ugh! We have discussed rerouting, and they say they can do that through the attic, but I'm pretty worried about that too. We moved here 26 years ago, and it was an almost new house then. I never thought about anything like this happening! My dad built our house above a concrete slab, it was easy to fix any issue from under the house. Thank you for dropping by, I hope we find a solution soon!

Thank you Deb, I'm glad you like my poem! As a poet, I thought it so strange that the man that the company sent over was named Muse....truly amused by the whole deal! Anyway, it was too interesting and ironic not to write about this! I hope you're having a blessed and wonderful day. Thank you for your visit and comment, it has been fun getting to know you :) I will be over later to see what you've been up to, hopefully writing away! :) <3

Hilarious after the fact but panic at first. Unlike me-- you faced this wonderfully with this splendid write on your experience, BJ. You made it an intriguing and fun read.

Thank you Vijay, :) There's that old adage, "When life throws you lemons, make lemonade!" Well, I found this situation so strange, the plumber, Mr. Muse is so ironic! I had to write about it! I hope you're having a wonderful day, and I'm so happy my poem made you laugh :) Thank you for stopping by for a visit and as always, for your uplifting comment to me! <3

I am sure this is an account of a real happening ! Such unexpected minor hitches happen in life. Though it may be an issue not very serious, it can upset our quiet, especially when we have planned the day to do something else. Glad you got someone to fix up your leaking water line. Regards dear friend !

Hi dear Valsa, yes, it is a true account! We haven't actually got the leak fixed, but did get the water off to the hot water tank, and so stopped the leak for now. We want to hire a company that will to a sonar inspection and find where the leak is in the pipe first, since the water was coming up in different places, Mr. Muse suggested we do this first! :) I hope you are having a blessed day my friend! <3
