A Musing Plumber
I greeted the day, that seemed in a way, to be just a happy blank page, So not aware; that I'd better beware, sometimes our Intentions can't gauge, For circumstance comes into play I went to the sink; I just wanted a drink I found not my sought for refresher A sputtering spray soon tainted my day When I found there was no water pressure Feeling quite bleak as we started to seek And discovered wet spots on the floor A few scattered puddles, that left us befuddled Wet carpet we found, nothing more I sought and I puzzled He thought and surveyed Neither of us are a plumber by trade Finally, he found how those puddles were made The hot water line, which last night seemed quite fine Was leaking neath' concrete, the problem discrete And seeping through cracks in our living room floor The bright empty page of our day was no more I'd wanted to write in the new day dawned bright Gosh life can be such a bummer! I wanted a muse, but instead would peruse The telephone book for a plumber. Though we were a muddle, these were only small puddles. We tried hard to find a bright side We'd discovered leaks soon, so, that was a boon: At least we weren't washed in a tide Now needing solutions, and that without stall Friend gave me a number, she told me to call I called it, and they sent a man on his way He talked about costs; what insurance might pay A home project bereft of beauty or glamour To do this repair he will use a jack hammer The plumber said, "Call if my service you choose!" I asked for his name, To my shock? "It's Joe Muse." How I'd wanted to write in the new day dawned bright But a Muse HAS inspired this write Some One up there has a humorous flair Though my pens in a gripe, (this no hype!) A Muse came to fix our cracked pipe!
