Notes About The Poem

A Mountain Frosted White

Mountain crest frosted in cold snowy white
Sparkling with countless facets of pyrite
basking in the golden glow of sunlight
With feathered wings, to the top I'd take flight

Summit's beauty is enhanced at twilight
Shadows frame the majesty of its height
As the sun bows low, my eyes glimpse the sight
of sheep scaling the mountain for the night

Rising from the ground, like a stalagmite,
stands this monolith mountain of graphite.
Infused with the radiance of starlight,
I pen the visions that bring me delight.

Hey Paul. I had some down time from editing this past week, so I thought I'd toss a few ingredients in the soup pot. I owed John a write since I missed his last contest, and he honored this one. Thanks so much for liking it!

Absolutely beautiful. The 'ite' rhyme is much difficult than what I used (I know because I tried) - I loved that early on in your poem I forgot that i was reading monorhyme. It flowed and utilized the rhyme without relying on it. If I'm to be truthful then any shared spotlight on me should be instead on you.

Only your humble nature supersedes your poetic skill. Thank you very much, Phillip, but your monorhyme write is wonderful! I appreciate your gracious comments ;-)
