A Matter of Heart, a Fable
In the far-away land of Fiddlesticks, in the town of Balderdash, there lived a group of peaceful, loving Whatsits - a creature known to truly never ask a question of science, and would casually reach into their hearts to greet their fellows with the friendly salutation of “whasup”. They were taught to speak from their hearts for clarity as they all came from different parts of the world.
There were also creatures living there, called Numbskulls and Nuckleheads whose shenanigans made everyone around them unhinged and menaced. Their hullabaloo of riots and flag-waving had such audacity and fiddle-faddle that they were shunned and lambasted by the Whatsits who called them confuzzled kerfuffles!
It must be said the Whatsits of Fiddlesticks based their society on being a rather willy-nilly nation relying on reticence and apathy, so that their leaders would take the total responsibility for all things that mattered. Now, the entire community of Whatsits were utterly kiboshed by the rigmarole of these nincompoop Numbskulls and Nuckleheads. They needed sudden solutions for this uprising.
They called upon their oldest codger “Egads”, who was known far and wide for his out-of-the-box problem solving and bigger than normal heart. So he stepped forward from his retirement to abate this discourse of malarkey, cattywumpus skullduggery, and endless noise about untruths.
He discovered that their leader Pmurt had taught the Nuckleheads and Numbskulls a new language – one that was most dangerous to living peacefully within their precious society. He had put forth the old words that had disappeared from their language many years past. The words of hate, anger, hostility, insurrection, prejudice, lying, cheating, misogyny, that had all replaced the words of love, peace, joy, contentment, friendship, loyalty, kindness, appreciation and respect.
“Egads” had discovered why their antics had stymied decency. He had to find the answer to this insurrection before it became too big a burden for the place that he loved. So he reached into his “too big” heart that always was filled with immeasurable compassion and found the answer – He would create a song so powerful that it would be heard over the din of this upheaval and would reach every ear across the land. It would lastingly provide the beautiful mystery of music that eternally creates change and the majesty of harmony to reach deep within their heart of words.
He would call this song “Unity”.
“It is only from our appreciation, and compassionate feelings of caring and respecting others that can educate the true purpose of our lives. We must learn to speak from the “heart of the matter”.
