A lovely October morning! Today I rose much earlier than usual. I watch the night stealing away, Like an accused convict under cover. Sunlight peeks through the leaves. In the haze of overhanging mist, Only the blurred silhouette of trees, in sight. The crows have begun their raucous call. The leaves of grass are misted with dew. A cool zephyr blows from the south. The sky in scintillating colors adorn. Even Sirius, the brightest star has paled. Life is slowly beginning to unfold, And men like shadows have begun to move. The sun has now climbed to the Eastern hills, In magisterial glory like a mighty king. Shattering the mist with his lance like beams, He exults like a victorious warrior. His crystal rays rouse the sleeping birds, And they begin their chorus in wondrous rhyme. I enjoy the sweetness of this lovely morn. In serene silence, I stand and watch, The light that slowly fills the Earth, Dispelling all trace of overhanging darkness!

An amazing poem once again from your pen.. You have created so much imagery here and each line is a true reflection of Autumn... we have to stop still sometimes and admire the wonders that surround us.. an excellent entry into the contest.. I think Shadow will have a difficult time picking a favourite.

Valsa, such an exquisite portrayal that transports me to a realm of astounding imagery and intense emotions. This poem is an absolute masterpiece, capturing the essence of a symphony. It is as if I can hear the melodious notes dancing in the air. I derive immense joy from observing the world stirring from slumber, and your poem has flawlessly depicted this captivating awakening.

I read your poem shortly after waking this morning. I'm glad I did, for it was almost melodic. The way you described the day awakening and the sun 'shattering the mist...' was creatively brilliant. I enjoy watching the world wake up...and found your poem beautifully describing what I say. You put words to my thoughts. Am faving this one for sure. Have a fabulous day, dear poet friend xo, Sara
