Extra Ordinary
When I was small I thought I was unique,
Another soul like me had never lived,
With a mind rightly in a different league,
From its troubles I’d give the world a lift.
All too soon, my aura began to fade,
Gone! Dreams of a life extraordinary.
In an adult world of an average grade,
I flew on a common trajectory.
In my later years, I came to realize,
Different from the rest my instincts were not,
With humanity I could sympathize,
Mine was a story sharing the same plot.
By hard-earned wisdom I have been set free,
To be at ease with the man that is me.
