A Lonely Path
A LONELY PATH
Now wandering lonely, in a shroud
No longer seen by those he knew
But now mute, unable to speak aloud
Invisible, in almost every crowd
Over time, his impatience grew
Now wandering lonely, in a shroud
Despite every furrow he ploughed
He’d be alone where no wind blew
But now mute, unable to speak aloud
In life, never in fear been cowed
Nor the bravest hero, it was true
Now wandering lonely, in a shroud
A good life, of which he was proud
In death some comfort was overdue
But now mute, unable to speak aloud
With this lonely future now endowed
Nor of any rationale, not even a clue
Now wandering lonely, in a shroud
But now mute, unable to speak aloud
