An extract from my epic poem The Way of Trilobites, available on Amazon. See PS classified.

A sentence or two, nothing more. Five rhymes, and then back out the door. A meter that’s strained, Some topic profaned: Ah me! What’s a limerick for?

Your Limerick on Limericks is an excellent, playful take on the form itself, capturing both the essence and the delightful absurdity of limericks in a few well-chosen lines. The self-awareness and wit embedded in your poem are enjoyable and offer a refreshing commentary on the limerick's unique place in the world of poetry.

Ha, ha. I think you've answered your question quite well in the first four lines there, Jerrold. Cheers, Gershon

Write on Jerrold! A clever limerick I really love the wit here - some topic profaned is so apt! Limericks are my favourite poetry form now. I never wrote them before I joined soup as a total novice to poetry now I've written probably in excess of 1000 and have published 2 books which contain lots of limericks and risque rhymes:-) hugs Jan xx
