A Lifetime Quest
I long to stretch my bare feet upon the emerald grass of Ireland
And smile and taunt the guards at the queen’s palace of England
And stand in the tall stone castle peek of Scotland haunted past
And hear the fresh running water creeks and weary nighttime laughs
I dream of taking a gondola ride down the lazy river of Venize Italy
I’d like to read a poem to the President of the USA and do it wittily
I need to breathe in the night air wearing a long black gown
Dragging my long brushed endless hair wildly on the ground
I picture a tall blond knight holding me close and kissing me tight
Into the long hours of a sultry passionate summer night
I see a dreamy east coast cottage on a private ocean edge
I want the nerve to face my fears of heights and stand out on the ledge
I’d like to someday see pictures of the woman that gave birth to me
Then I could sleep soundly and forever set my soul free
