A Letter To Mama

Dear Mama, You have been gone for sixteen years During this time, I have cried many tears I am thankful for the time we had together But I believe I will miss you, Mama, forever You’ll live on in the my heart lovingly A mother can’t ever be replaced, you see As I sit here reflecting on my memories You are such a big part of all of these Sitting there sewing on your machine Creating a designer wardrobe for this teen Growing a garden and putting up goods In the winter months we’d appreciate the food Cooking up a mess of conrbread and beans The best desserts you have ever seen Worshiping God with the church on Sunday Talking things over with your good friend, May God gave you children to nurture and love God sent me even though you had enough I believe that He saw the desire of your heart For a daughter who would always be a part Of your every dream and for life’s trials Whether we shed tears or were all smiles Together we learned to depend on each other You and I were a matched pair, dear mother God called you home much too soon You left before the roses could bloom The smell of honeysuckle lingers still In my mind it always will Love from your babygirl, Joy
