A Hero In Time

How many times have you seen him there, on the corner downtown, with that hollow stare. A veteran I've heard , from the second World War, still wearing his medals, although he can't remember what they all are for. A hero in his time, many missions he flew, then one day he took a hit, never finding his crew. So wise if you listen, to his daily prayer, bits, and pieces of his puzzle, are hidden there. Never a husband, no time for a wife, determined to spend a lifetime, living the military life. After his crash, and after the pain, nothing was ever the same again. Parents already passed, not a sibling did he have, now on a corner downtown, with his hollow stare. Donations will be gathered, for this wonderful man, and a house will be built, by many grateful hands.
