A Heart That Bleeds
The hand that struck an innocent child,
with its anger to deliver such pain.
This moment of tears memories compiled
To roll in a tighter ball to sustain
Confused by reason a child never knew
Confronted by a parent with disdain
Lost in the conflict of what's false what's true
Only the adult will be held to blame
The sting from a strap with its metal band
Cut into the legs and back's covered flesh
No concern given to where it would land
The welts that arose from this flailing thresh
To cry inside for a childhood's lost needs
To be scarred for life with a heart that bleeds
