A Headlong Plunge

Draped in the darkness of the night In a weather so dull and blight Sad thoughts like a deadly shooter Come out to bombard her outright Shaking off their fitful slumber They rise from their inert stupor From the reservoir deep, spill out As through newly opened shutter They come from an unknown hideout As all trace of life to wipe out Unable to block the current She totters in a drunken bout They spill forth in mighty torrent, With a beastly force violent Like an angry mob on long wait, Infringing all rules, nonchalant Caught in the vortex of that spate Her body began to gyrate She lost all her sense of balance Her sad fate, no one could abate May.13. 2022 ~Placed First~ Rubaiyat Poetry Contest 8 syllables per line Rhyme scheme- aaba-bbcb-ccdc-dded-eefe. Thank you so much dear Lasaad. I am so grateful to you. It was drawing inspiration from you, I ventured to write a Rubaiyat for the first time. I am so happy and grateful to you that my poem is placed one among the first in the winners list.Enjoy your cruise, dear friend.

Your poems are a treasure and such a pleasure to read and comment on, your ideas, your thoughts and imagination, an inspiration, heart rending poetry, but superbly executed and created. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer

Distressing, those sad thoughts. So mysterious, where they come from -- the same place that happy thoughts come from...

This brings back memories and fca drowning in Durban in 1978. A religious single woman ( brahmacharini) gave up ... But I was only 17, a boarder there at Divine Life Society, yet she must have shown the administration strators signs of her mental health. We pray for peace, asking Jesus to remove & rebuke spirits of insanity, fornication. Witchcraft, & mental instability. As a poem, very powerful, Sis Valsa PTL

Sometimes it seems "the web of life" is one big party-line, where strange thoughts are overheard, but one's brain is simply testing its filing system. Well caught, Valsa!

When those dark thoughts enter your mind you feel you're falling into a dark abyss with all hope lost. A well written verse Valsa , hope you're having a lovely weekend. Tom

When I read your poems, I realize how petty mine are. These days I write free verse only.

When sad thoughts roil mind draped in the darkness of the night--it's not a good sign. Wonderfully emotive journey through your pen--invoking her loss of balance. Best to you, Valsa.
