A Friendly Guy - Pet
We called him 'Bagel,' don't know why
An orange tabby cat, a friendly guy
Loyal as a dog, hunted rabbits for a living
To one and all, affection giving
Walked right up to strangers
Rubbed his fur 'gainst their legs
Stretched, yawned, rolled over
Half expected him to sit up and beg
Not an aloof bone in Bagel's handsome frame
The envy of all the neighborhood dames
Maybe we shouldn't have, but we finally had him neutered
Nights filled with cats screeching, we feared an angry shooter...
Our Bagel's in Cat Heaven now, drinking premium milk
Haven't had a cat since in his image, or of his ilk
